The Role and Purpose of a Hockey Parent Representative
The role of a Hockey Parent Representative (Rep) is pivotal in ensuring smooth communication and fostering a supportive environment for players, parents, and coaches. This position serves as the liaison between the hockey team and its broader community. This helps to streamline communication and reduce the likelihood of misunderstandings or missed messages.
Responsibilities
- To take comments and concerns from parents
- To keep an open communication with the coaching staff to ensure items that are brought up from the parents are addressed efficiently
- Handle issues, if possible, without involving the coach
- Enforce the 24-hour rule on parents
- Schedule parent meetings with the parents if it is deemed necessary
- Schedule a coach meeting with coaches if deemed necessary

Complete all steps under Responsibilities before moving to the next step.
- Parent brings issue to Parent Rep
- Parent Rep tries to handle it themselves
- If not able to solve the issue, the Parent Rep brings it to the coach
- Coach comments and gives Parent Rep notes to bring back to parent
- If resolution is still not acceptable, inform the parents about Safe Sport to have a formal investigation done by a third party investigation
