Dear Players & Parents,
The next week marks an exciting week for the anagural season of the Brant Battalion!
The merger between the three home centres will provide our players an opportunity to play at their highest skill level possible and help to instill a sense of community across hockey within Brant County.
I would like to start by introducing myself, my name is Rob DeLaronde and I will be the head coach for the U10A team during the 2024/25 season. I have been invovled with hockey all of my life and will be using my passion for the game to help build a strong culture that cultivates goal setting & achievement, foestering a postive learning environment, and a continuous focus on improvement both on and off the ice.
As we all know, try-outs can be a stressful time for everyone involved. Below is a quick summary of the next few days as they will be jammed packed.
1.) Each participant is guaranteed three ice times prior to any releases occuring.
2.) The first two sessions, we will be split into groups as the group is quite large. This will be for Sunday and then on Monday/Tuesday depending on your group. These sessions will focus on individual skills (skating, shooting, passing), small area games, and battle/compete style drills.
3.) Wednesday's session will be an intersquad game between the two groups. Following the conclusion of Wednesday's skate releases will start to occur.
4.) Upon arriving at the arena today, please stop by the registration desk where you will be assigned your try-out jersey as well as receive your unique idea code which will allow you to track your progress through the tryout process.
5.) Any updates about which ice times you should attend as well as your progress will come through the web-site and email.
6.) There will be a number of non-parent, non-affiliated evaluators watching and grading the players to aid in selections
I wish everyone the best of luck through the try-out process. Please remind your players to show up with a positive attitude, work hard no matter what, and ask questions if they need clarification. These are all attributes I will be looking for along with on-ice skills.
